AMYA partners with youth ages 16-18 to develop self-confidence, discipline, leadership skills, and life coping skills to assist youth with their academic and future success.

check markPhysically/Mentally capable of completing a demanding program

Your assigned admissions representative will email you with request to verify the qualifications after you complete the online interest form. If you are unsure, please discuss this with your assigned staff member or email goamya@alaska.gov.

It is recommended to submit complete application packet by December 31, 2025, but application will be accepted until January 14, 2026.

The interview is scheduled after the Initial Application Packet is completed. The confidential interview is conducted with the applicant and Admissions staff. The interview is conducted in person when geographically feasible. Interviews may also be completed via telephone or videoconferencing. An interview is REQUIRED.

Acceptance is determined following the interview, unless additional information is requested. Should a youth be accepted, they will be provided a Conditional Acceptance Letter. All acceptances are CONDITIONAL, should a youth no longer meet the qualifications to attend their acceptance letter will be VOID. This may include change in legal status, medical changes, injuries, etc. The Conditional Acceptance letter will also contain information on when to report, information to obtain flights* (if outside reasonable driving distance/off road system), and the Packing List. *AMYA pays for the cost of the accepted youth's flight only.
